Mumbai to Howrah-CSMT Express derailed

At least 2 passengers were killed, and 6 others wounded after 18 coaches of the Mumbai to Howrah-CSMT Express derailed in Jharkhand Chakradharpur on Tuesday after a collision with a goods train.

According to an official, the Railways  Rs 10 lakh compensation has been announced to the families of 2 victims, who have lost their lives, while Injured have been given Rs 5 lakh each. The accident happened at around 3.45 am in Bara Bambu village near Chakradharpur.

 

A spokesperson for the South Eastern Railways (SER), Om Prakash Charan,  told news agency PTI that “it is not ascertained whether the accident was result of another derailment of a goods train nearby”.

 

Official Indian Railways Statement said, “Train No. 12810 Howrah-CSMT Express has derailed near Chakradharpur, between Rajkharswan West Outer and Bara bamboo in Chakradharpur division.”

 

Out of 18 coaches, 16 were passenger coaches. Rescue teams and Ambulances have reached on the spot and injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals.
