Neeraj Chopra secured birth in final of Men’s Javelin

Under the burden of countrymen’s pressure, Neeraj Chopra started with a huge throw in the qualification round of the men’s javelin event at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday. Leading Group B , Chopra accomplished his personal best with a throw of 89.34m in his first attempt and has entered in the final of the men’s javelin event.
Earlier he had scored 88.36m at the Doha Diamond League. Neeraj split the national record with his astonishing throw of 89.94m at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022.

Kishore Jena 9th in Group A
India’s Kishore Jena is in Group A while Neeraj will launch his gold medal bid from Group B on Day 11 of the Summer Games in Paris. Jena qualified for the men’s javelin event at Paris with his throw of 87.54m at the Asian Games in 2023. Whereas, Jena has failed to cross the 87m mark after getting an involuntary berth for the Paris Games.
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch, Germany’s Julian Weber, former world champion Anderson Peters and are Neeraj’s top rivals at the Paris Olympics.
The qualifying rounds have two groups—A and B. Athletes can enter in the final by securing an 84.00m throw.
