After suffering an ankle injury during the Copa America final, Lionel Messi broke down in tears. Due to what appeared to be an ankle injury, Lionel Messi had to leave the Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia early in the second half on Sunday night. The 37-year-old football legend was substituted out of what may have been his last important international competition after 65 minutes of action. Messi fell and signalled the trainers right away to need assistance. Even though it looked like Messi was trying to run as quickly as possible, he stumbled over his own feet. Messi was leaving the field carefully, taking off his right cleat and taking off his captain’s armband. Later, Messi was spotted crying and chiding his face on the Argentina side lines while wearing an ice pack on his right ankle. After Messi left the pitch, Nicolás Gonzále took his position’s. Later footage captured by FOX Sports cameras revealed the extent of Messi’s right ankle swelling.   Messi’s ankle bothers in the first half. Messi attempted to chase and hit a ball before it went out of bounds during the first half. Before he could kick away, he placed his right foot, which bowed awkwardly. Messi   rolled over towards the pitch so that trainers could assess him. Messi ultimately got to his feet and moved away on his own, but not without a noticeable limp. After suffering the injury in the first half at minute 36, Messi was able to finish the match.
